Links that we like

Here’s a list of sites that are related to baking/cake decorating which we think are fantastic and worth sharing with our all our readers.

Do leave us a comment on this page, if you like to be included here in this page, ! We will zip over to your site and have a look, if its great, it will be here!

For all your baking needs

1. Phoon Huat | Store Locations | Contact Details | What they sell
Phoon Huat is a leading wholesale supplier of bakery, beverage and confectionery ingredients. They are also conveniently located all around Singapore! Definitely one of your first choice for your baking needs on all occasions!

2. Bake-It-Yourself (B-I-Y) |How do I get to B-I-Y | B-I-Y Course Center | What they sell
The store is well stocked with lotsa of items which you probably can’t find in a conventional baking supplier shop. Items sold here are a little more unique and pricey (in my opinion) as compare to Phoon Huat.

They conduct lessons on cake decorating too!  - My girlfriend attended a few of them and find that the lessons are very well conducted  :)

Lastly, the location is a little off. (my opinion again). Oh and do remember that they don’t open on Sundays.

3.Artistiq | Location and Contact details | Course Schedule

Artistiq is similar to B-I-Y in that they sell baking supplies and conduct courses too. The difference, if you ask me is that, they seem to be more focus on conducting classes on cake decorating and modeling. In fact, they are the approved Centre in Singapore to conduct PME  diploma courses!

My girlfriend went for some of the classes conducted by Artistiq and she is equally impressed with the quality of the training provided to her. Excellent stuff! :)

However, if you are looking for baking suppliers or materials, then I would suggest that you go to either B-I-Y or Phoon Huat. The selection over at Artisiq is a little lacking and as compared to #1 and #2.

They also do not operating on Sundays. Pls note. Ouch.

4. Sia Huat | Location and Contact details | What they sell

As Sia Huat’s website suggest “Asia’s one-stop food service partner”, I think this is one of the place that you ought to visit should you suddenly have the urge to set up a bakery. … lol

Located within Chinatown, I must say this store is very well stock. The varieties are plentiful when it comes to baking equipment and utensils. They don’t sell baking supplies like fondants and candy melts though. Guess that’s not their strength.

It’s a nice store to do some window shopping and do drop by Sia Huat if you hadn’t! It’s really quite an amazing store.  :)

5. Sun Lik Trading |Location and Contact details

For those who are around the city area and would like to stock up on your baking supplies, do pop by Sun lik! They sell a wide range of baking tools and quality baking ingredients!

mydearbakes always like to pop by their store and check out what they have when ever we are near Bugis. =)

Cake Decorating workshops

1. Sugar Inc | How to Get there & Course Schedule | Their Gallery

So this is where and how mydearbakes actually started. ^^

Still remembered clearly how happy my girlfriend looked when she completed her very first bake after attending a workshop at Sugar Inc.

Sugar Inc teaches the fundamentals of baking and cake decorating well. Additionally, the course fee over at Sugar Inc is reasonable. What gave me a good impression with them is that Sugar Inc actually prepares all the baking materials for the students. Meaning, you can just walk in and enjoy the class! (you do not need to clean up your mess after the class too!~ lol)

Do note that not many workshops in Singapore does that (I think). Some requires you to bring your own cake and coloring for their workshops … =x

2. Cake Over Heels | Contact details |Course Schedule

Cake over Heels is a little inaccessible in the sense that its not quite near any MRT stations. However, they do ofter a large variety of cake decorating classes and workshops.

Not to mention that the instructors there are also very knowledgeable and keen to share their knowledge and experiences with you =)

Do check out their course schedule often as its updated pretty frequently =)

  1. Thanks for the tips! I’ve been thinking of taking up a cake decorating class, probably with Artistiq. Glad to note that you approve of the place. :p
